Friends of the shaker library is a volunteer organization founded in 1980 to promote and support the shaker heights public library. Friends' activites and funds help to enhance the resources services and programs of the shaker heights public library a valued community resource. Activities funded include the summer reading programs for children teens and adults;library-sponsored programs and author/illustrator visits; homework center; purchase of library equipment; support for library staff and operations.
