Mission
Futurewise works throughout Washington state to encourage healthy, equitable and opportunity-rich communities, and to protect our most valuable farmlands, forests and water resources through wise land use policies and practices.

Futurewise takes legal action and advocates for healthy, climate resilient, and equitable local planning and land use decisions across the state. In 2024, Futurewise won legal cases protecting farmland, wildlife habitat, water resources, and addressing community needs in Okanogan and Ferry Counties. In 2024, Futurewise also won a landmark case at the Washington State Supreme Court that upholds farmland protections in King County and sets new precedent for regulating agritourism.
Futurewise advocates for healthy, climate resilient, and equitable planning and land use policies at the state level. In 2024, Futurewise led education, advocacy, policy analysis, and coalition management to promote a statewide framework for transit-oriented development and to protect water resources, wildlife habitat, and rural infrastructure.
