Project # 3 - National Day of Service - The Womans Club of Rock Hill was honored to partner with our Sister Club the JR Womans Club of Rock Hill to participate in their third 3 annual Great Rock Hill Food Fight to benefit one of our local food pantries Pilgrims Inn. This was chosen as our National Day of Service Project. The Food Fight started September 1st and ran through September 30th with seven 7 local businesses that participated as food collection sites as well as five additional community sponsors. The food drive was a contest between the business sites that collected the most food by weight won a trophy with community bragging rights. This year we collected just over 1000 pounds of non-perishable food for Pilgrims Inn! The volunteers from both clubs had a wonderful time on Saturday September 28th NDS getting out in the community and raising awareness of food insecurity in our own neighborhoods. We also used this opportunity to share about the Womans Club and our purpose. # 4 - Safe Passage - Our final project in 2024 was providing a strong sponsorship to Safe Passages annual fundraising event. Safe Passages provides services and advocacy to victims and survivors of domestic violence child abuse and sexual trauma. This years event It takes a Community was held at Winthrop University McBryde Hall. Club members enjoyed night of fabulous food music silent and live auction and compelling guest speakers. Project # 1 - Members of Health & Wellness CSP began this project on July 13 2024. We worked with United International Ministries UIM which exists to extend biblical hospitality to the international community of local educators and college students in order to share the love and truth of Jesus Christ by helping meet their physical emotional and spiritual needs. We focused on the 21 international teachers that our local school district hired due to the extreme teacher shortage. They came from across the world such as Colombia Venezuela Ghana Philippines and more. The new teachers arrived with very little needing to find an apartment furnishings start looking for a car and go through the new teacher training before school was to start. Our CSP helped with the Furniture Household Item Drive sponsored by UIM RHSD3 and The Off-Ramp. Our members donated 6 kitchen chairs one table Lamps dishes cookware kitchen towels artwork baking dishes and shampoo products. Health Kits for the 21 International teachers. Such basic first aid items as cough drops sanitizer band-aids antibiotic ointment Ibuprofen and Blistex were placed inside each teachers box and a card saying "From your friends at Womans Club of Rock Hill" was attached to each lid along with a sunflower sticker.
