Mission

Gennesaret free clinic provides medical, dental and vision for the uninsured and under insured. We operate 2 respite facilities for homeless men and women who are discharged from a local hospital and need a place to heal.

Programs

4 programs

Gennesaret free clinics (gfc) dental program operates a dental clinic in the lower level of the blue triangle residence hall. A dentist from the marion county health department staffs this clinic three days per week and volunteer dentists one day per week. Services provided include: examinations, x-rays, oral hygiene services, extractions, restorative work, root canals and steel crowns, dentures, and partials. In addition to above cited staff, gfc dental clinic also employs a dental hygienist, dental assistant and front office person. Annually, the dental clinic records approximately 3,000 patient visits.

Expenses: $215K

The health recovery program (mhrh) was developed in response to hospitals discharging homeless people to emergency shelters that were not staffed nor equipped to assist someone in the final stages of healing from a hospitalization. The mhrh opened in july 2000 and provides post hospital care for up to 8 homeless men in two residences. This program is based on a home healthcare model and is the only program of its type in the state of indiana. Homeless men were found to need this service more than homeless women as their numbers are greater.

Expenses: $310K

Gennesaret began operations of a women's health recovery home for homeless women who are discharged from a marion county hospital in 2016. The whrh is for homeless women 18 years and older and can serve up to 4 women at one time, each with their own room.

Expenses: $346K

The women's health services program (whs) was started in 1995 to provide gennesaret's female patient population with access to early detection services for breast and cervical cancer. The whs provides screening, diagnostic mammograms and well woman exams, along with helping women to access biopsies and treatment. The whs director outreaches to women at the blue triangle wellness center, wheeler mission's women and children's center family shelter, st. Vincent depaul client choice food pantry and the westminster neighborhood food pantry.
