Mission

The giants community fund (the "fund") uses baseball and softball to promote health, education, and character development to propel youth in underserved regions to be positive forces in their communities. The fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is managed by a volunteer board of directors and sustained by contributions from individuals, businesses and foundations through a number of special partnerships and fundraisers. Since its inception in 1994, the fund has donated over $40 million to community efforts.

The willie mays scholars program provides academic scholarships to underrepresented youth in san francisco and creates an opportunity for students facing obstacles to succeed in high school, college and beyond.

Other programs consists primarily of the harmon and sue burns scholars awards program which selects ten eighth-grade junior giants each year and provides them with a $10,000 college scholarship upon high school graduation, academy program, junior giants schools, discretionary grants made by the fund to local nonprofit organizations, and other community activities.
