Girl Scouts of Hawaii (GSH) will deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) to over 2,200 Girl Scouts ages 5-18 years old. This includes 485 Girl Scouts from low-income families that will benefit from the After School Leadership Program (ASLP). For approximately 28 weeks starting in October 2023, troops will meet up to twice weekly in age-delineated groups with a Troop Leader. GSH provides girls with access to high-quality educational programming and STEM learning opportunities that inspire them to enter STEM in higher education and future careers. GSLE is a program model used nationally and informed by rigorous research carried out by the Girl Scout Research Institute. GSLE engages girls in Leadership Journeys that involve them in decision-making and leadership activities, hands-on learning through an ongoing cycle of action and reflection, and cooperative work to promote fun, friendship, and teamwork that are integral to Girl Scouting. ASLP troops will meet in their classrooms or at a Boys & Girls Clubhouse within walking distance of school.

Alaska Airlines Foundation funding will support delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, including program supplies and direct delivery expenses. The GSLE will serve 2,750 Hawaii Girl Scouts in grades K through 12 in age-delineated groups with a volunteer or staff Troop Leader up to twice a week after school or on weekends. All girls participate in STEM events, outdoor experiences, and community projects throughout the year.
