The Sky's the Limit: Discover Aviation & Aerospace program is designed to serve Girl Scouts K-12. It's a progressive program model building upon itself as Girl Scouts move from elementary to middle school, and on to high school. The program ignites an interest in aviation and aerospace,?while providing skill?building opportunities, experiential activities,?exposure?to women in the industry,?mentorships, and highlights career paths in aviation and aerospace.?The program also aligns with the Girl Scout national movement of?placing?2.5 million youth members into the STEM workforce pipeline by 2025 through innovative hands-on, girl-led programming.

Sky's the Limit - Discover Aviation & Aerospace is built on program progressions that tie to the characteristics and learning styles of each age-level of Girl Scouting. In 2022 we have added our youngest Girl Scouts to the program through other funding sources. The focus of our Daisy (K-1st) and Brownie (2nd-3rd) aviation programming is the physics of flight and learning about women in aviation history. As our Girl Scouts progress to Juniors (4th-5th) and Cadettes (6th-8th), we turn our focus to career exploration by bringing in guest speakers and activities from today's aviation and aerospace industries. As our Girl Scouts move to Seniors (9th-10th) and Ambassadors (11th-12th), we add an additional focus on mentorships, scholarships, internships, apprenticeships, and planning for their first year in college or trade school.

Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) is launching an aviation program for our youth. The Sky's the Limit - Discover Aviation & Aerospace program is funded by The Boeing Company and will serve Girl Scout Juniors in 4th & 5th grades, and Cadettes in 6th-8th grades. Through efficiencies made possible by Boeing's grant we hope to expand the program to our youth members in high school when it launches this spring through a partnership with Alaska Airlines. The program ignites an interest in aviation and aerospace while providing skill building opportunities, experiential activities, exposure to women in the industry, and highlighting career paths in aviation and aerospace.
