The Story of Sugar: Inspired by our work on diabetes we launched this animation in the latter part of 2022 to address the harmful effects of sugar and processed food help people understand diabetes and show those at risk the lifestyle changes that promote better health. The Story of Sugar joins our three other "Story of" animations on cholera Ebola and coronavirus which have been watched hundreds of millions of times worldwide. To make the messages more effective in changing behavior our animations are done in a realistic style that captures human expression so that people emotionally connect with the story and health messages. In 2024 the video was completed and published and we began narrating it in other languages.

Expenses: $15K

Nurturing care: We produced a series of videos on ideal responsive care and early learning practices to support counselors in improving their understanding of these behaviors so that they can better counsel and support caregivers. The videos serve as training tools to help counselors improve their skills and can be used in training programs or for self-learning. The project was launched and nearly completed in 2023 including scripting and pre-production filming in over 100 households and community settings in Ghana and the Kyrgyz Republic and editing and post-production of the videos. In addition to English the videos have been published in Arabic French Kyrgyz Portuguese Russian and Spanish. Some of the work in wrapping up these languages and publishing and distributed the videos was finalized in 2024.
