Mission

Past: the good okc's founder jon mays spent most of his life far from god, but had a radical conversation in his 30s. He spent 10 years leading as the associate campus pastor and director of missions at life.church in edmond, oklahoma, but his heart always moved towards people outside of the four walls of the church. In 2022, jon launched his first communities on mission he saw a big need for more of this work in the city and stepped away from life.church at the beginning of 2023 to pursue this vision full-time. Present: a group of people believing in jon's work have banded together to start and be the first board of directors of the good okc. Jon has agreed to work for the gook okc as an employee and per oklahoma law, will be an at-will employee under the direction of the board of directors. The good okc meets saturday mornings in moore, ok and serves together throughout the week through different nonprofits. The good okc was created to equip and empower the people of oklahoma city to

The good okc believes that everyone deserves a second chance at life and that financial stability is a key piece to the restoration of our neighbors. So the good okc will be taking over the operations of tbd creatives. Tbd creatives will provide a training ground for our people to make candles, soaps, lotions, bath salts, upcycled clothing, and plant hangers. Recently, a possible grant became available to hire 6 employees who are currently working through a program with one of our local service partners. These employees will be people recovering from being unhoused, victims of domestic violence, differently-abled youth, kids aging out of foster care, or people transitioning out of incarceration and paid to manufacture our handmade products. We don't focus on productivity and maximizing profits. We are purposely less efficient to create opportunities to teach soft skills, and get to know our new employees so that they know that they are why we exist and that they are loved. Should tbd creatives have any remaining funds, such funds will go to support the missions of the gook okc. About 33.3 percent of our work and funding will be dedicated to this mission.

Dapper & darling - the good okc will establish funding to scale their clothing line which will employ 6 people full-time to begin with and as stated above,we believe we have seed funding for this project. These will be people who would generally struggle to find sustainable employment due to their circumstances. The good okc looks forward to working along side our neighbors and providing ongoing training, encouragement, and support through a dignified working environment and an above-living wage hourly rate.
