Through its workforce development programs gwsa has remained committed to helping community members achieve upward mobility through stable employment, skill development and job training. During 2024 increased its efforts making a transformational impact by assisting vulnerable individuals in gaining skills, credentials, and resilience to retain employment and compete for the better jobs that provide higher wages and more advantageous benefits. This transformational impact is being accomplished through six programs offered by gwsa: 1. Digital literacy - provides basic computer skills training. 2. Good careers academy - provides vocational skills training that leads to industry recognized credentials in healthcare and transportation. 3. Good careers center - provides job readiness and placement services. 4. Nxt level - connects 16- to 24-year-old opportunity youth to workforce and education pathways. 5. Re-entry - prepares individuals nearing the end of their incarceration or post-release for successful transition into trades and transportation careers. 6. Workplace upskill - helps businesses support the retention and development of their workforce through life skills coaching and connection to career training and education. These programs provided the following results in 2024: - provided training for 541 individuals who earned a recognized credential. - assisted 1,506 individuals in gaining employment with 65% placed in jobs earning a wage above 200% of the federal poverty level. - 387 individuals completed a digital literacy course. - 576 nxt level youth opportunity participants served. - 183 participants completed reentry training. In addition to direct job placement assistance, we connected employers and job seekers by hosting ten job fairs and hiring events.
