Sewing program at goten training centeroffered sewing classes to approximately 15 refugee women each week, many of whom come from conservative backgrounds with limited educational opportunities. The program provides a culturally appropriate space for learning practical skills, building community, and gaining confidence. Participants progressed from basic stitching to completing market-ready products.throughout the year, refugee women created sewn itemssuch as tote bags, aprons, and home goodsthat were sold by the organization at community events and online. These projects generated $8,174 in sales, of which $7,553 was paid directly to seamstresses as supplemental income. This initiative not only empowered women financially but also helped their families with essential household needs.beyond income, the program cultivates trust, belonging, and spiritual conversations within a safe, women-centered environment. It is often the first place refugee women encounter relational support and dignity outside their homes.

English classes at goten training centerprovided english language classes to approximately 141 refugees weekly, helping newcomers build communication skills critical for daily life, employment, and integration into american society. Most students came from muslim-majority nations, representing over 15 ethnic backgrounds. Classes were led by trained staff and assisted by 100 volunteers, offering beginner to intermediate levels. We estimate over 250 unique individuals participated in at least one term of classes. This program serves as a foundational step toward long-term relationships and holistic support.

Kids program at goten training centerserved approximately 20 refugee children each week through age-appropriate activities focused on language development, social skills, and emotional safety while their parents attended english classes. Volunteers created a consistent and welcoming environment, helping children build trust and adapt to life in the u.s. Through creative play and structured lessons, children from at least 8 different countries gained early educational skills in a nurturing, trauma-informed setting.
