Great Basin Heritage Area Ptr

This project focused on developing and improving the ely shoshone cultural park. The ely shoshone tribe is undertaking improvements within the cultural park area. This includes constructing new facilities and improvements to existing facilities. The purpose of these improvements is to provide world-class educational, tourism, and recreational opportunities creating a prime destination for heritage tourism. Grant funds were used to produce the necessary architectural and engineering planning documents for the project.

The great basin national park foundation continues to grow its education/outreach program with white pine county and millard county schools. This grant funded a year-long vista intern who worked with area schools and pbs reno on developing a new curriculum for 2nd and 3rd graders through their curiosity classroom program. This project reached 100% of elementary and middle schools in white pine county, nevada and 75% of elementary and middle schools in millard county, utah. 1,722 students participated in the program. Grant funds were used to fund a year-long internship.
