Collect, preserve, re4search and share local history of town of Greece NY. Maintain historical house, artifact collection, & reference library. Conduct public programs, special events, on local history, architecture, and historic sites within the town. Tell story of Greece NY

Programs

The society pubnlishes a monthly newletter highlighting society activity and historical articles. We own the rigths to several publications on local history. We reprinted Manitou Beach Trolley Days and Barns of Greece which have been out of print for several years. Additionally we sell Pioneer Families of Greece - Vol 1 on Amazon.com and in our gift shop. Work continues on Pioneer Families of Greece - Vol 2 which is scheduled for publication in spring 2025. We are working on a historical survey of the works of local african american architect Thomas W Boyd Jr. We are also working on a history of Greece Central School District school 5., built ion 1930, and recently removed to make way for the new GCSD Transportation Facility.

Expenses: $4K

Our 8 monthly Tuesday meeting lectures featurd local historians, authors, and humanities scholars. Our presentations continue to be very popular with the community and are well attended. During 2024 we averaged over 50 guests per program. Our programs include high quakity, professional, and entertaining history lessons. We also conducted several Sunday afternoon programs at our museum. These ioncluded: 1) grand opening for our baseball exhibit 2) program by the Rochester Theater Organ Society 3) an exercise in stonework play (an activity using actual stone creatively to tell stories 4) a Holiday Open House 5) a special celebration honoring two of our outstanding volunteers Our members also ido presentations off-site for: 1) The center at Greece Town Hall 2) The Parma NY Community Center 3) the local AARP 4) Bethany Church 5) Parma Greece United Church 6) locak history table at Genesee Country Village & Museum 7) Senior day @ Greece Ridge Mall
