Mission
The Greenhorn Firewise Community GFC earned recognition from Firewise USA on June 28 2019 joining a vast network of certified Firewise USA communities across the country including more than 120 in Nevada County. The National Fire Protection Associations NFPA Firewise USA initiative focuses on educating individuals residing in wildfire-prone regions about best practices for enhancing community resilience and protecting homes. Through collaboration and shared responsibility residents are empowered to proactively mitigate wildfire threats by fortifying their properties implementing safety measures and promoting a culture of preparedness within their community. The program emphasizes the importance of collective action in building a safer and more resilient environment in the face of escalating wildfire risks.
