Griffin Cares Foundation

Care kits : as part of our community onboarding process, griffin cares foundation sends a free care kit to every family who registers for peer support. Our care kits contain a collection of tangible resources that provide information and meaningful emotional support during the early days of grief. All of our care kit resources have been recommended by other loss parents and include information on coping with baby loss and grief, as well as healing and remembrance resources. Each kit contains a personalized enclosure card featuring the baby's name that is hand-signed by the volunteer who packed it to further the welcoming feeling of this gift and underscore the message that the recipient is not alone in their grief.

Sibling support program :griffin cares foundation offers a comprehensive sibling support program to support siblings who have lost a brother or sister. Our care kit for kids contains a special comfort gift for each sibling, as well as a variety of books to help promote family conversations surrounding important topics including loss, grief, and remembrance. We also offer a special topic group on sibling grief to help educate loss parents to support their living children cope with the loss of their sibling at different ages and stages. Griffin cares also provides support for the youngest members of our community on remembrance day and during bereaved siblings month in november.

Lavender retreat : griffin cares foundation offered our first wellness retreat in 2024. This complementary day-long program focused on the calming and therapeutic properties of lavender to nurture and provide a self- care opportunity for mothers who have lost a baby to stillbirth, infant death, or sids. In-person participants enjoyed wellness and remembrance activities at a lavender farm followed by a nourishing lunch and time for reflection and connection with other attendees. Virtual members received an "event-to-go" box including lavender wellness items, lavender refreshments, and event keepsakes. Remembrance and community-building opportunities were available to support all participants.

Annual remembrance day gathering : griffin cares foundation's annual remembrance day gathering is a free community program offered each year in october during national pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. Our 2024 virtual event featured meaningful parent reflections and a heartfelt guest speaker. The highlight of the program is a beautiful candle lighting ceremony where all attendees are invited to light a candle and share their child's name as we remember and honor all babies gone too soon together as a community. Registrants received a remembrance day comfort box containing an event program, personalized remembrance items, and refreshments shipped to their home prior to the event. This year's gathering will be our first hybrid offering, featuring a live event as well as numerous virtual participation options.

Loss anniversary

Peer mentor program : griffin cares peer mentors are fellow bereaved parents who have lived with loss for at leat one year and have completed a training program. All of our peer mentors understdand firsthand what it is like to deal with grief and volunteer their time to "pay it forward" to help families who have recently experienced a loss. When grief is so new and raw, sometimes just knowing that someone else has made it through the dark place you are in provides a glimmer of hope and encouragement. A peer mentor can also be a helpful source for practical suggestions and advice on dealing with family and friends and returning to daily life.
