Homeownership programs: manatee habitat works with families who seek to improve their future through homeownership. Manatee county habitat provides a 'hand up' to qualified families, who partner with volunteers to build 'green sustainable' homes, which the families then purchase with a zero percent interest loan. To address problems with low income homeowners, manatee county habitat also provides assistance through a variety of rehab/repair programs. The programs provide critical home repairs/rehabs and exterior home repair services to the elderly, disabled and veterans. Manatee habitat also acquires foreclosed homes which are rehabbed and then sold to qualified habitat homebuyers. Working in partnership with local municipalities and private organizations, manatee habitat volunteers provide the expertise and labor to make the improvements to homes throughout manatee county.
