Mission

Habitat for humanity of summit & wasatch counties seeks to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. We envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live within our service area and around the world.

Programs

1 program

Affordable homeownership opportunities: habitat for humanity completed construction of six attached townhomes in the silver creek village development and began planning and permitting on the next phase of our 10-unit townhome project serving families below 60% ami. Our homeowners are selected through a competitive application process that includes comprehensive financial education and are all asked to contribute "sweat equity" during the construction process. Repair/maintenance/weatherization program: habitat for humanity facilitated a volunteer activity to assist a senior in wasatch county with yard clean up and maintenance. Habitat worked even further to partner with a local government agency to refer and complete a large home repair. Education programs and referrals: our critical education programs serve everyone in the community with the opportunity to understand and plan their financial futures. We also prioritize preparing low and moderate-income buyers for homeownership. This program includes free financial workshops and multi-session online courses, free housing counseling integrating in-person and online resources, and free advocacy and one-on-one referrals in-person and by telephone. This year, habitat included a new quarterly information session with other community partners to provide a comprehensive "how-to" for affordable housing summit & wasatch counties. This robust program helps hard-working people achieve economic stability. In the past year we served 447 individuals and 215 households. Volunteer engagement: to maximize the efficiency of program delivery in all our service areas, habitat utilizes a team of dedicated volunteers. During the 2024 fiscal year, habitat recorded more than 3,500 volunteer hours from approximately 150 volunteers.
