Mission

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity of LA Pine Sunriver, Inc, brings people together to build homes, communities and hope in Southern Deschutes County. Major activities include new home construction, critical home repairs, and operating a restore.

Programs

3 programs

The Home Preservation Program supports safe housing for over 100 families annually by providing critical home repairs. These repairs address unsafe or uninhabitable conditionssuch as faulty plumbing or electrical systems, damaged roofs, insufficient insulation, heating issues, and lack of accessibilityand help individuals remain in homes they already own. HFHLPS partners with licensed local subcontractors and leverages donated materials and appliances from our ReStore to keep costs low. Repairs typically range from $200 to $2,700. The program primarily serves vulnerable populations in rural Deschutes County, especially seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and female-headed households. Program outputs include the number of repairs completed and homes served, while long-term outcomes include improved safety, stability, and housing retention. This program plays a critical role in addressing housing inequities tied to aging manufactured homes, low income, and limited access to services in our rural community.

Financial and Homebuyer Education Programs: The financial and homebuyer education programs is a core component of the homeownership journey. This support helps our homebuyers build financial stability and prepare for long-term success as homeowners. Topics include budgeting, credit, debt management, saving and investing, emergency preparedness, and understanding Habitat mortgage terms. We work one-on-one with homebuyers through the purchase process and help them apply for support like down payment assistance and individual development accounts. We partner with other non-profits on classes and in homeownership fairs.
