Lights, camera, plastic... And beyond program: our lights, camera, plastic and beyond campaign continued to flourish in 2024 through landmark collaborations and awards. The campaign was featured at the hollywood climate summit and was also honored with an anthem award for innovation in nonprofit social change campaigns. We have now brought our programming to all major film and television studios, and were thrilled to go deeper with case studies created for film projects such as "abigail" via universal pictures' greener lights program as well as a case study for "spiderwick chronicles" via paramount studios. We also have the support of hbo and warner brothers for our efforts to replace single-use plastics with reusable alternatives. (cont. Sch. O)the campaign also has a compounding effect with each tv show and film we take part in. The chameleon effect, through which we as a society subtly mimic the behavior of those around us, can now take place for good in film and television when we create sleek and enviable green futures on screen. Taking action is as simple as making sure there is no unnecessary single use plastic that appears on screen.additionally, we are proud to guide guilds such as iatse, the directors guild, the writers guild and the producers guild to help members bring lights, camera, plastic? To their productions with a goal to go entirely plastic free on screen.
Crayon collection program - in 2024, crayon collection launched the crayon collection goes purple programming in honor of the release of the harold and the purple crayon movie. Through this program, we took part in the movie rollout as the exclusive charity partner of the film, allowing us to work with sony to leverage the film release to drive gently used crayon donations and give back to local students and expand our reach nationally.as a result of this collaboration, special edition crayon collection boxes were placed in theatres across the country for moviegoers to donate their gently-used crayons, and we were proud to offer purple crayon themed activations for cultivating gratitude and (cont. Sch. O) art education at the global premiere of the film in los angeles. Our core programming also "went purple" in the month of august for both the film and national crayon collection month, as we offered a special set of downloadable resources on our website so individuals could take action to start their own "purple crayon" collection and create purple crayon-driven art projects.
One of our greatest programmatic wins in 2024 took place when amazon signed on to changes to their packaging aligning with our ship greener campaign recommendations. Pat lindner, vp of mechatronics and sustainable packaging at amazon, announced that "we are working towards full removal [of plastic pillows] in north america by end of [2024] and will continue to innovate, test, and scale in order to prioritize curbside recyclable materials."thanks to a record number of email messages from our supporters, we were able to communicate to amazon the importance of reducing single-use plastic waste in shipping. In 2024, ups joined our ship greener campaign as a partner and sponsor. As a sponsor, we are able to leverage resources and opportunities through ups to enable small businesses to reduce their shipping waste and emissions, creating a win win win that helps small businesses save money, creates less unnecessary packaging for consumers, and most importantly reduces waste for the planet.
