Harrington Center For The Arts

The historic harrington school, completed in 1903 and recognized as the birthplace of public education west of the mississippi, is being restored and expanded into a regional center for the arts. The harrington center for the arts will unite utahns through music, theater, and visual arts by providing a premier performance venue and arts education facility for northern utah county. In 2024, the organization completed the design development documents with its architectural team and advanced the active capital campaign through ongoing community and donor engagement. These accomplishments mark continued progress toward realizing the planned 62,000-square-foot combined facility, which will expand access to high- quality arts experiences for the region.

Living bethlehem and the accompanying christmas market are annual community events that bring the story of the nativity to life through live performance, art, and music. The immersive production features local actors, musicians, artisans, and food vendors, transforming the american fork amphitheater into an outdoor holiday experience for families across utah county. In 2024, the event supported 141 local artists and performers and welcomed 11,257 attendees over its multi-day run. The production provides meaningful opportunities for regional artists to share their work while fostering community connection and holiday spirit through the arts.

Additionally, harrington center for the arts produces the following programing: chalk it up is a free, three day chalk art festival in which local amateur and professional chalk artists spend hours transforming sidewalks in american fork into a captivating, one-of-a-kind experience. Empowering women in the arts mentorship program: connects young female creatives for one-on-one instruction and career training through technical instruction and providing the tools and industry contacts necessary to turn a hobby into a viable career. The walls: a biannual art exhibition that is a first of its kind in our community and provides opportunities for the public and artists alike to enjoy an "outside art museum" with murals painted by local, professional and amateur artists. Exploration of new works: connects aspiring local playwrights and writers with arts professionals to help them realize their artistic vision and stage new plays and musicals for public concert performance.
