Mission
Mitigate adverse impacts to wildlife by implementing the Harris Ranch Wildlife Impact Assessment and Management Plan. Actions involve on the ground conservation work and monitoring of habitat and education of local residents about wildlife and natural environment.

Conservation project grants for off-site mitigation projects to Intermountain Bird Observatory and Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands. These two grants total $25.000 and is part of the work in 4a. Grants support work to improve wildlife habitat on the Barber Pool which is part of the off-site mitigation program. Grant to Golden Eagle Audobon Society (GEAS) of $800 towards GEAS Common Boise River Birds brochure printing. Participated with Idaho Fish and Game on its post fire rehabilitation plans for the IDFG Wildlife Management Area next to Harris Ranch (part of HRWMA off-site mitigation areas).
Providing information and education including cameras in two kestrel nests, sharing photos to website. Placing two cameras at stream and pond area to view wildlife, sharing photos to website. Placement of educational and direction signs along Dallas Harris Legacy Walkway. Providing information to residents by sending twenty (20) email blasts to 675 with >50% open rate. Hosted wildlife scavenger hunt for kids with six participating. Annual BBQ to report on activities and educate the local residents with 77 attending. Offered 101 classes to residents with participation of 235 people over the year. Provided new homeowner packets with education information on wildlife in the area. We added our plant and wildlife guides to our website in an online product catalog for purchase by homeowners and the general public. Established social media accounts (Instagram, YouTube) and posted content on kestrels and other wildlife at Harris Ranch. Worked with four local schools. Conducted "Wildlife at Harris Ranch" presentation to elementary students at Riverstone School. Planted native and drought tolerant seedlings with elementary age children at DHES from Green Week. Participated on the Technical Advisory Committees for Dennis Technical Education Center and for Ridgevue H.S. Developed a greenhouse and garden concept design for the Harris Ranch town center adjacent to Dallas Harris Elementary School. Hosted an Andrus Scholar intern for the summer in support of college students looking to gain work experience in the environmental science sector. Andrus Scholar initiated work on insect guide to Harris Ranch and Barber Valley area.
