The Haven at Skanda takes in and cares for rescued farm animals from all over the country, providing them with a supportive environment in which to recover from the abuse they have suffered and emerge as who they really are. Because the animals have so much to teach people about recovering from trauma, living in the moment, and being true to one's self, the Haven at Skanda provides innovative programs supporting people, and especially children, with trauma histories or life challenges. Skanda's core programs support children from low income families with complex trauma, women who have survived domestic violence, veterans, people with developmental disabilities, and anyone seeking new possibilities.
