Hcb Human Care

The barrier removal employment success project assists eligible american born and eligible refugee and immigrant michiganians, in particular those of detroit and its metro area, with supportive services for finding and keeping stable employment. This program has serviced over 130 michiganians of the alice population (asset limited, income constrained, employed) with finding or maintaining employment as well as has assisted participants with pursuing educational goals and bridging gaps with quality-of-life supports.

The purpose of hcb human care is to develop a variety of human care service programs that address the physical and social needs of new immigrants, refugees, and families living below the poverty line. Our goal is to empower new americans and other underserved communities to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. We will provide programs such as english as a second language (esl) classes, citizenship preparation, computer training, student tutoring, counseling, and opportunities for friendship and hospitality. To deliver these services, international friendship centers will be established in various parts of the country. In addition, we will mobilize and engage local communities to participate in food, clothing, and household item collection and distribution efforts to support families experiencing financial hardship. Volunteers from these communities will be trained and empowered to manage the programs, build meaningful relationships with new americans, and foster stronger, more inclusive communities.
