Healthy Futures Of Texas

Advocacy: Healthy Futures advocates for local, state, and federal policy priorities supported by data and the experiences of Texas youth and women. Healthy Futures staffs and manages the Texas Womens Healthcare Coalition which consists of approximately 80 healthcare, faith, and community-based member organizations dedicated to improving the health of Texas women, babies, and families by advocating for access to preventative care for all Texas women. Independently, Healthy Futures staff members educate and engage the Texas Legislature, State Board of Education, state agencies, local school districts, and municipal health departments. Healthy Futures conducts, analyzes, and disseminates research and data relevant to sexual health outcomes of youth and women. Healthy Futures uses research and data to inform decision making and provide partners with accurate information.

Training and Technical Assistance: The Healthy Futures of Texas Training and Technical Assistance pillar builds capacity for youth-serving professionals through training, curriculum design, and systems change-level education. We equip people with the tools needed to create accessible, effective, and sustainable programs that support the well-being of young people. We are committed to enhancing statewide impact by fostering fairness, accessibility, and operational excellence.This pillar also supports health centers as they improve care for young people aged 10-24 through the Adolescent Champion Model, an 18-month, evidence-based intervention. The model strengthens youth-centered environments, policies, and practices, while also supporting staff development, especially in non-provider roles, to enhance patient care and service delivery.

Awareness: Healthy Futures of Texas advances statewide awareness of sexual and reproductive health through Talk About it Texas, our signature initiative that integrates awareness campaigns, education, and outreach with youth, parents, and families. In 2024, this effort reached millions with accessible, culturally relevant messaging that encourages open dialogue, reduces stigma, and supports informed decision-making. Our awareness work also amplifies the voices of youth and local partners, helping ensure our efforts are responsive to the needs of communities across Texas and contribute to the overall well-being of those we serve.
