We are looking to expand these this coming season with skills workshops and other events to bring in additional members of the community to grow and build community. This also includes pickleball events and movie nights in the park over the summer.

Hoam workhoam work is a program designed in partnership with the church to mobilize men to serve widows and the widow-like in our community. Men, under strict supervision and leadership, utilize their skills in fixing, building, and repairing to improve the homes of the vulnerable individuals in our community. Tasks completed are generally those that a man in the home would complete; we fill in the gaps where men are absent. We completed 16 projects in 2022, equating to 360+ man hours of service to the community. Expenses stated are those owned by hoam. Another larger component was owned by college park church.grant written to ruth anne lefeber, a member of college park church with severe medical conditions confining here to a wheelchair. She is a dwarf with a severe spinal issue. Her home was overtaken by black mold. Hoam partnered with college park church and sicoa to remodel her home and make it accessible for her.

These groups are designed to build lasting, reliable friendships. We currently have roughly 36 men in these groups, usually consisting of 6-8 men per group with 2 leaders each. They meet for 3-4 hours at a time and do so twice a month, once formally and once informally. We are building leadership training material now to grow this effort.
