In August, String Sprouts resumed its mission of providing free instruments and lessons to underserved communities, ensuring equitable access to music education. Operating across various sites throughout the metropolitan area, Sprouts served a total of 69 students and their caregivers/parents across six locations, including partnerships with the KCK and KCMO public school districts, as well as El Centro Academy. As part of a collaboration with the Kansas City Public Schools, Sprouts engaged 48 students in twice-weekly classes during the school day. Throughout the year, students learned a total of 69 pieces of music, showcasing their progress and dedication. Quarterly Sprouting Up ceremonies featured 32 guest performances by 21 esteemed musicians from the Kansas City Symphony, captivating approximately 265 attendees. The highly anticipated Sprouts & Symphony concert, featuring 62 Sprouts performing alongside the UMKC Conservatory Orchestra, drew an audience of over 300. At the annual Stringfest fundraiser, 12 students showcased their talents to an audience exceeding 175 attendees. Additionally, 58 Sprouts participated in four concerts alongside the Kansas City Symphony during the Edward Jones Holiday concert series, further showcasing their musical achievements and enriching the community with their performances.

Heartland Chamber Music (HCM) brought back its Adult Chamber Music Workshop for Amateurs in person this summer, offering a vibrant four-day experience filled with connection and inspiration for adult musicians. From engaging coaching sessions to memorable performances, participants immersed themselves in the world of chamber music. The HCM Adult Workshop presents an exciting opportunity for adult amateur musicians to delve into the masterpieces of chamber music. Open to string, wind, and keyboard players aged 21 and over, this intensive four-day workshop attracted 15 students from across two states. Faculty members from the Kansas City Symphony and local universities guided participants through the workshop's activities. Throughout the event, five ensembles collaborated closely with five professional faculty members, honing their skills and exploring repertoire. The workshop culminated in a captivating free concert, attended by 75 enthusiastic audience members, showcasing the talent and dedication of the workshop participants.
