HOME provides comprehensive medical and preventive care to ensure each miniature equine achieves and maintains good health. Services include routine veterinary visits, vaccinations, dental and farrier care, prescribed medications, and nutritional supplements. Emergency veterinary care is also provided for equines requiring immediate medical intervention. Eighteen equines currently reside in HOME's Home Haven sanctuary program due to ongoing medical needs or advanced age, receiving continuous care in a safe, permanent environment tailored to their conditions.
HOME trains and rehabilitates miniature equines to prepare them for adoption or community service. The program covers training in safe handling and trust-building, along with transportation for veterinary visits, adoptions, and outreach events. Through the HOME Cares program, select equines visit hospices, nursing homes, and senior centers to bring comfort, companionship, and joy to residents. To date, this outreach has served nearly 1,000 seniors, offering emotional support and improving quality of life. In addition, this program provides for the safe transport and, when necessary, purchase of at-risk miniature equines to ensure their rescue and inclusion in HOME's care network.
