The hilo medical center foundation (hmcf) is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to support the hilo medical center with projects that benefit the greater community.

Be a lifesaver: be a lifesaver hawaii is an awareness campaign surrounding cardiac arrest. The program offers free chest compression and automated external defibrillator (aed) training organizations across the island. 3 automatic chest compression devices were donated to the hawaii county fire department and placed on the county's trauma helicopter and 2 ambulances.

Expenses: $8K

Rotation housing: ahec for hawaii island expanded to include housing to support healthcare professions students and resident physicians on rural rotations across hawaii island. Currently the foundation manages one house in east hawaii and one in west hawaii. The housing can support up to 27 people at a time and is used to support recruitment and retention efforts for recruit healthcare professionals to hawaii island. We provided 98 unduplicated students with housing support for a total of 5,253 nights
