Mission

The hinesburg community resource center has been an essential part of the hinesburg and surrounding community since its founding in 1986. This volunteer-driven nonprofit organization connects families and neighbors, offering support through a variety of programs. These programs include the hinesburg food shelf, friends of families, our emergency assistance fund, and our medical equipment lending closet.

Emergency assistance fund: this fund assists community members in hinesburg and st. George with financial needs due to unexpected job loss and medical expenses. In fy 2024, we helped 101 individuals (44 families) with financial assistance for basic needs including utility bills, heating fuel, car repairs and much more. Hcrc also connects residents in need with additional community resources and educational support.

Friends of families (fof): this program connects young families by offering weekly playgroups, seasonal children's clothing, book and toy swaps, and our annual welcome baby picnic in collaboration with the carpenter-carse library to celebrate the newest members of hinesburg and st. George. These programs foster connections and provide much-needed support and resource for local families.

Expenses: $7K

Medical equipment lending closet: our lending closet provides free medical equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, commode/shower chairs, etc.) to community members recovering from surgery, medical stays or for visiting family members in need. All items are donated and available for as long as needed.
