The Historic Valdese Foundation is a non-profit organization that attempts to preserve and enhance the heritage and history of Valdese a western North Carolina town of about 5000 people Incorporated on February 25 1976 the Foundation was formed with the intention of creating an umbrella organization that could fulfill the needs of the Old Colony Players a local theatre group that produces the outdoor drama From This Day Forward promote tourism for the drama and the historic points of interest in Valdese and improve the quality of living in Valdese
