Programs
3 programs
Resource and referral - hively's resource & referral (r&r) program provides alameda county families with child care referrals, parent education, and access to community resources. Our parent education services empower parents & guardians to exercise their parental choice by providing information on choosing quality child care, types of child care providers, and parental rights. Our navigation services support the whole family & whole child by assisting families with accessing other supportive services like housing, health coverage, and counseling. Our r&r program also offers technical assistance to alameda county child care providers, providing one on one coaching and free professional development training opportunities on topics such as, social-emotional development, health and safety, curriculum and environment planning, and inclusion. Parents and community members are also welcome to attend our professional development training opportunities to expand their knowledge & understanding of child development. Support for these programs is provided through contracts with cdss, alameda county first five commission, alameda county office of education (acoe) private sources, and the cities of pleasanton and dublin. The city contracts and first 5 alameda county funds also support the development and documentation of child care data through my child care plan (mccp) which our agency manages & keeps up to date for the tri-valley area.
Mental health services - hively provides mental health services at our offices in san leandro, pleasanton and oakland. We work with clients of any age who have alameda county medi-cal and have fee for service options for those who do not have medi-cal. Services are provided by licensed therapists (lmft), associate therapists (amft) and trainee therapists (mftt). Our clients include court and child and family services (cfs) mandated clients and self referred clients. All services are by appointment. Hively also provides general assistance (ga) evaluations at two alameda county locations - eastmont and san pablo. During the fiscal year 2023-24, the program, through 11 licensed and/or associate therapists and 11 clinical trainees, provided 3,512 hours of individual & family therapy sessions and 1,401 general assistance evaluations.
In addition to our child care subsidy, resource & referral, and mental health services, hively offers various other programs that promote development of health & happy children, strong & well-resourced families, and high quality child care programs. Hively offers support to local child care providers seeking licensing, providing guidance on eligibility requirements & financial assistance with licensing related fees. We also provide support to address barriers faced by children with special needs by assisting child care sites with improving their inclusion practices. We also operate an oakland & pleasanton family resource center (frc), both of which provide gently used children's clothing, hygiene products, nonperishable food, and other items, at no cost, to people in need. Through both of our frcs we operate a diaper pantry that distributes 13,000 diapers per year to underserved families in alameda county. Hively also provides wraparound services to enrolled families and community members, ensuring that families have their needs taken care of, making our frcs a one-stop shop for parents, children, and the community.
