Hmong American Partnership

Economic development - in 2024, hap's economic prosperity department advanced economic growth within the hmong and se asian communities by providing culturally tailored financial education, technical assistance, and access to capital. The team delivered 28 workshops serving 362 participants, supported 108 technical assistance clients, and deployed 18 business loans totaling $677,000 with an average loan size of $41,500, including one real estate purchase. These efforts supported 12 start-ups and 6 existing businesses across industries such as restaurants, manufacturing, tailoring, beauty, farming, and waste removal, resulting in 31 jobs created or retained. Additionally, through the promise act, hap served 90 clients and provided 135 hours of technical assistance, helping small business owners access funding, stabilize operations, and strengthen long-term economic resilience.

Community services - in 2024, hap's community impact department worked directly with individuals and families to provide trauma-informed services, support healthy youth development, and address issues such as domestic violence, emotional wellness, and social isolation serving 3,843 individuals and impacting 19,215. The team also led covid-related efforts, including accessible vaccination clinics, community-based testing, and recovery support. In addition, the department offered navigation services to help community members access essential resources such as mnsure health coverage, snap benefits, and housing stability assistance. Through culturally responsive programming and collaborative partnerships, hap centered community voice to create safer, supportive environments where people could thrive.

Social enterprises - hap's social enterprise, hap transportation, exists at the intersection of workforce development and addressing social causes. Our school bus transportation company provides charter schools within our communities safe and reliable transportation across nearly 80 daily transportation routes, transporting 3.441 students, while also providing transportation for field trips, and invaluable after school programs using culturally relevant bus drivers that we employ directly from the communities we serve, thereby generating employment opportunities economic growth, and contributing to the positive development of our youth.
