Hchc's housing development department leads the creation of affordable and permanent supportive housing across los angeles county. The team manages every stage of the development process, from site acquisition and design to construction and lease-up, with a focus on long-term community benefit, environmental sustainability, and design excellence. Since its founding, hchc has completed 33 developments that provide 1,296 affordable homes for more than 2,600 residents, including families, seniors, and individuals with special needs. Nearly 40 percent of hchc's homes serve residents who have experienced homelessness, live with disabilities or hiv/aids, or face other barriers to stable housing. Hchc is currently advancing several new projects that will expand its impact and continue to address the region's urgent housing needs.
Hchc's resident services department supports the stability and well-being of residents living in the organization's affordable housing communities. The team provides care coordination, referrals for mental health support, crisis intervention, and connections to community resources that help residents maintain housing and improve quality of life. Resident services also offers programs such as english as a second language classes, ged instruction, life-skills workshops, and enrichment activities for children and seniors. Hchc operates a weekly food pantry that serves both residents and community members, providing groceries and essential items to hundreds of households each year. Through these programs, the resident services department fosters stable, supportive communities where residents can thrive.
