Family service centers: foster care program locates, trains, and provides foster parents for children who need a home due to experiencing trauma. Foster homes are considered extensions of holston home's ministry team to children and families and must align with the home's statement of faith. Foster families come from all types of backgrounds and have many different life experiences. They are able to provide a home where children have a sense of belonging. Foster families undergo extensive training, background checks and home study process before children are placed in their home. Foster parents participate in on-going monthly training. Once they receive a child into their home, they are provided with round the clock support by a child and family specialist and a team of professionals. Around the clock on-call support is also provided for emergencies. Foster parents are provided with respite care, which allows families to take a break from the demands of being a foster parent. Foster parents do receive reimbursement for the cost to appropriately provide and care for the child.through our home to stay program, which includes family preservation and reunification, holston home is able to provide in-home care for families needing guidance as they develop stress-management techniques such as communication skills and appropriate problem solving. Through such education, holston home prepares the family to effectively deal with future stressors without repeating unhealthy behaviors. Our staff conveys that change is possible and empowers families to organize themselves to achieve their goals of maintaining an intact family, or reunifying the family after the child has been removed from the home. Foster to adopt provides comprehensive support and education to foster parents who want to adopt their foster child, in situations where the biological parents' rights have been terminated by the court. The services are provided throughout the process from the initial application to the celebration of a finalized adoption.
River academy is a private christian school housed in the cunningham center on the main campus of holston home. River academy is designed for children who may be having trouble succeeding in school or in the community. River academy offers an opportunity to gain knowledge, interpersonal skills, and personal worth that will allow him or her to discover new and more positive ways to relate to the world. A ministry of holston home for children, river academy and the quillen day treatment program guide students toward social, behavioral, academic, and emotional well-being. Staff members work with students and their family on individual programs of instruction that guide young people into new directions. We are licensed by the state of tennessee to teach students from kindergarten to seniors in high school.
