Mission
Hope initiatives envisions the day when "receivers" have become "givers". This happens when those who depend upon some form of social service support to meet basic needs have become self-sufficient and able to meet their own needs, and are then willing and able to lend a hand to those who cannot yet help themselves. We help receivers break the cycle of dependency by serving others, developing skills, and thinking differently about their potential.
Programs
1 program
The hope works program was established in 2022. It builds upon our experience in providing work experiences and coaching to w.e.p. Participants for many years. Hope works is a full time 12-week workforce development program designed to prepare individuals ages 18+ for meaningful employment through employability skills training and through hands-on occupational skills training in basic woodworking, welding, and cnc machining. Upon training completion, participants are connected with employer partners for full time employment. The program is designed to serve individuals who are in re-entry from incarceration, recovering from substance use disorders, chronically unemployed, age 18 - 24 who are at risk for gun violence, or referred by the department of social services. In its more than twelve months of operation hope works has enrolled 99 individuals, of whom 50% attended the program and approximately 20% gained employment.
