Horton Records LTD planned launched a project in 2021 featuring a dozen Cherokee Native American artists recording original contemporary music translated and sung in the native Cherokee language. We believe this to be the first project of its kind for contemporary music .It involves musicians producers sound engineers language translator s graphic designers photographers videographers publicists and more. The project continued into 2022 which culminated in a release celebration on the Cherokee National Holiday in Sep 2022 that included live performances and testimonials in front of 200k-300k Cherokee people over that weekend. Another showcase event for these artists was held at Cains Ballroom in Oct 2022 as a part of a joint conference sponsored by Bob Dylan Center and American Folklore Society. In 2023 new live performance and music licensing opportunities were made available to musicians affiliated with this Cherokee project. 1 full length album and 1 digital single were released in 2023 by Cherokee artists with groundwork laid for 2 more releases in 2024. Funding was secured in 2024 to complete a second compilation of original contemporary music from Cherokee artists sung in the Cherokee language. We expect have expenditures in 2025 with a Fall 2025 release or Spring 2026 release.
