Hospice of Yancey County, Inc. dba Compassionate Care Western North Carolina providers made 1357 home visits, serving 249 patients in the service area of Yancey, Mitchell, Madison, and Northern Buncombe Counties. Palliative Care is a consultative service in collaboration with the patient and the patients primary physician addressing pain and symptom management. Patients living with chronic and/or life limiting illnesses are eligible for palliative care even while receiving aggressive medical treatment. Palliative certified Physicians, NPs and MSW Care Navigators and Volunteers comprise the palliative team.

Hospice of Yancey County, Inc. dba Compassionate Care Western North Carolina provides bereavement support to hospice patient families for up to 13 months following the passing of a patient and community support to anyone who desires grief support. 368 clients received bereavement support. This support is in the form of bereavement calls, visits, mailings, and/or support groups.
