Global interfaith initiative and hardship and homeless initiativewe continued to provide cash contributions to include full sponsorship of the passover seder and simcha torah celebration at the men's prison in chino; several interfaith iftars for ramadan; food bags distributed to the needy by a muslim women's organization; food and medical care for holocaust survivors; sponsorship of a hannukah program with an outreach to elderly shut-ins; a homeless breakfast-in-the-park program of a bible church in long beach; the food programs of a presbyterian church in long beach; a few chabad programs that provide food and supplies for elderly or needy jewish families. (continue to sch o)due to covid-19 and the economic stressors facing families and individuals in the united states, we increased our contributions to direct-service organizations (e.g., food bags for the homeless or needy) and we increased our direct support to desperate individuals. As in years past, we "adopted" families in an effort to keep them financially afloat (rent assistance to prevent homelessness, food bags, etc).: a young immigrant couple; a single mother with two children under four years of age; burial costs for a hispanic man who died from covid because he could not afford to shelter-in-place; and many people received food bags via food banks, food kitchens, etc.
