HAPS serves and advocates for those affected by Parkinson's disease in the Houston Area.

Therapeutic and Enrichment Programs and Support Services: HAPS offered a diverse range of classes, including speech, exercise, water exercise, tai chi, yoga, dance, ping pong, and boxing, as well as monthly support groups, with a combined attendance of over 1,400 participants per month in 2024. HAPS offers enrichment programs throughout the year that connect individuals with Parkinson's and their family members to others with the disease through social activities. The objective is to find fun and engaging ways to help reduce the isolation that individuals living with chronic illnesses often face.HAPS programs are offered free of charge and totaled over 98,799 service hours in 2024.
HAPS social workers handled intake and referral calls, made home visits to assess needs, and conducted consultations to find solutions to address those needs. They also facilitated 19 specialized monthly support groups for people with Parkinson's disease (PD). Groups included the general PD population, caregivers of PD patients, caregivers of people with PD and related dementia, people with atypical PD, newly diagnosed patients, and those grieving the loss of a loved one. HAPS also managed the ongoing needs of individuals and families, provided financial assistance, transportation to medical appointments, home wellness visits, and respite care.
