Preserves and promotes the dance and music of the lindy hop and swing dance era.

The international swing dance championships is a yearly event dedicated to the preservationof urban swing dancing. It inspires a new generation of swing dancers through enjoyable classes, electrifying competitions, and amazing social dances.

Lindyfest is the largest swing workshop and competition that is held in the southwest to promote the preservation of the swing/lindy style of dance.

The mission of the Black Lindy Hoppers Fund is to provide assistance to established and developing dancers, musicians, researchers and community builders endeavoring to be of greater service to community members of African and African diasporic heritage. Through legacy building exchanges, youth programming, mentorship facilitation and development, generative residencies, impact focused community building and stewardship we aim to galvanize the cultural core of Lindy Hop and recenter the gaze and presence of the African and African diasporic community towards this phenomenal cultural artifact. We recognize the noted long standing obstacles of financial, administrative and mentorship support to black dancers participation, development and the intergenerational transfer of the critical heritage of Lindy Hop and Jazz Dance. HSDS supports a variety of ongoing programs that further its mission of preserving and celebrating the Lindy Hop and swing dance culture. These include the Frankie Manning Foundation, which works to preserve the legacy of Frankie Manning and the historic Savoy Ballroom, while supporting the global Lindy Hop community through outreach and historical preservation. The Frankie Manning Foundation also has The Ambassador Program, the Frankie Birthday Festival and youth education initiatives. Additional program services local to Houston include community social events such as weekend classes and social dances, and special workshops aimed at expanding access to and awareness of swing-era dance and music. These activities foster intergenerational learning, cultural exchange, and community building through the arts.
