Amazing Place received a collaborative grant from the Administration for Community Living to launch three new and expanded initiatives. First, the Faith Care Connection program was expanded into the West Houston/Katy community, working alongside churches to serve older adults living alone and at risk or with dementia. The Faith Care Connection team trains clergy, staff, and lay leaders about becoming dementia-friendly congregations. Our Star C program utilizes experienced volunteers as trained consultants to offer in-home interventions to caregivers, using an evidence-based intervention to manage difficult behaviors. See Schedule OThe third initiative is Amazing Place's first Spanish program, Cuidando con Respeto (caring with respect), provided to family caregivers caring for loved ones with dementia. In January 2024 we also added Cognitive Stimulation Therapy under our ACL grant to serve adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in this small group, evidence-based program which is held twice per week for one hour over a 7 week period.

Family Caregiver Support & Brain Health: To truly help families, we must connect with everyone impacted by dementia. This includes caregiving family members and friends whom we support through a vast array of programs/services aimed at educating them about dementia and helping them provide the care and support needed for their loved ones, as well as take care of themselves. This also includes providing the community with the latest in brain health strategies, offered through our education classes and presentations designed to elevate the importance of lifestyle interventions in reducing the risk of dementia. We offer all of these programs at our Drexel location and throughout Houston at various churches, offices, community centers, and more.
