Howell conservation fund's tax-exempt purpose is to provide environmental conservation through sustainable solutions and education. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of u.s. Law based on our 501(c)(3) public charity status.
Programs
3 programs
Bird species - howell conservation fund has supported the loon preservation committee since our inception. This new hampshire nonprofit focuses on protecting loons and promoting conservation efforts through research and education. Howell conservation fund was one of the first funders of lead tackle buyback program. Since the start of the program, 78,500+ pieces (631.3 pounds) of lead tackle have been removed from circulation, directly preventing loon fatalities, safeguarding the lives of local wildlife and preserving vital aquatic ecosystems.
Marine restoration - in 2024, howell conservation fund launched a new bioregional finance facility (bff), focusing on marine regeneration in the caribbean. We brought stakeholders together in new york city as part of climate week, co-hosting a meeting with salesforce to establish the scope of project, to identify location in the bahamas, and start due diligence tied to piloting the bff approach.
Catalytic grant - in 2024, howell conservation fund ran a catalytic grant program, nurturing development and innovation across a myriad of communities, sparking essential growth in environmental initiatives as we supported grants for new grantees we had not previously worked with in the past. While the majority of funds were disbursed to grantees at the end of 2023 (reflected in our 2023 tax return), the work was completed by grantees in 2024. Results of the catalytic grants can be found in our 2024 impact report on our website at https://www.howellconservation.org/post/2024- year-end-impact-report. Fiscal sponsorship - howell conservation fund worked with crdc foundation throughout 2023 and 2024. The organizations completed their fiscal relationship and closed out by the end of 2024.
