Mission

Our mission is twofold: 1 Help small businesses - especially minority and woman owned - develop to better be able to do work in transportation and construction and 2 Help girls discover sustainable careers in transportation and construction. Minority and women owned businesses traditionally get less than 12 of the work on public construction and transportation projects. Women are only 8 of the construction workforce. With high paying and sustainable jobs in construction, this career can have a huge impact on a woman's economic equity over her lifetime.

Programs

1 program

Transportation and Construction Girl is committed to expanding career opportunities for young women, supporting equity for young women, enhancing young women's self-esteem and helping to meet the workforce shortage in construction. Currently, only 8 of the construction workforce is women. That means huge opportunity for young women. Transportation and Construction Girl Day starts with fun and cool exhibits from 8:30am - 11:30am. The HOYA Foundation presents 4 scholarships and honors the young girls who graduated from Career Days for Girls. Girls are seated with sponsors so that they can learn more about the business of construction and create connections that can support them through their careers.
