In 2024, 6,363 pets were adopted through our pet resource center, with an average length of stay of just seven days for both cats and dogs, far below the national average. We assisted 8,277 animals through the pet resource center. Our pet retention and shelter diversion programs provided medical, behavioral, and material support to more than 2,000 animals and distributed 5,300 bags of pet food to local pantries and human service centers. These services helped families in crisis keep their pets and avoid unnecessary shelter intake.

Foster care program: 394 foster families cared for 1,752 animals in 2024, offering safe, loving homes to pets needing recovery time before adoption.volunteer program: our 1,312 volunteers donated 26,850 hours of service, valued at $416,000. We conducted 53 orientations to expand and support the program.humane education program: hsu reached 12,971 children through in-person and virtual classroom visits and kids' camps, teaching empathy, pet care, and animal safety.behavior program: we provided individual training to approximately 40% of the animals under our care to enhance adoptability.
