During the fiscal year ending 6/30/2024, HPSD provided students with live performance opportunities including the 29th annual production of The Nutcracker (December 2023) featuring 194 dancers, presented live in Chicago and recorded for digital distribution. The annual Spring Concert was presented at the Museum of Science and Industry and featured three different shows including students ages 3-adult. The youth pre-professional training companies participated in a variety of public performances, festivals, and engagement programs throughout the community.
HPSD awarded scholarships to 31 dancers between the ages of 7 and 18. Scholarships offer tuition assistance between 10-90% and are awarded primarily based on financial need. The process includes an application, submitting proof of income, an open audition for dancers, and interviews for parents/guardians.
