Mission
The illinois national guard & militia historical society is dedicated to promoting and developing the heritage of illinois citizen-soldiers. The society was established in 1990 to provide a wide base of support for preservation, presentation and dissemination of material and information relating to the history of the illinois militia, state troops and the national guard. The society actively supports and raises funds for the operation of the illinosi state military museum at camp lincoln in springfield, illinois. The society has funded development, procurement and preservation of artifacts, public exhibets and interpretation. The society pays for part-time employees to host the public during the museum's operating hours.
