Mission

In our own voice: national black women's reproductive justice agenda is national organization designed to amplify and lift up the voices of black women at the national and regional levels in our ongoing fight to secure reproductive justice for black women and girls.

Programs

2 programs

Education and outreach: identifies black health care professionals, students, and academic and community leaders from numerous states who serve as national and state spokespeople on our issues. These women receive ongoing media and messaging training and serve as resources within their communities to promote policy and cultural change at the local, state, regional and national levels through advocacy, narrative shifting, community mobilization, and movement building. Additionally, we designed the "next generation leadership institute", working with students at historically black colleges and universities (hbcus) to develop their leadership skills and provide them with training in advocacy, community organizing, and media readiness.

Expenses: $1.7M

Advocacy and policy change: advocacy and policy change: in our own voice works with organizational partners to impact policies at the national and state levels. We educate policymakers, develop talking points and fact sheets on the impact policies have on the health and well-being of black women, and conduct advocacy visits with elected officials. We also train black women to educate national and state-level policymakers on our issues and on the impact that bad policies have on the reproductive rights and health of black women in their state and region.
