Spadework - we graduated 24 people from 13 orgainizations in california and pennsylvania. Each participant was paired with a seasoned mentor. Each organization was able to develop tailored tools with the abc leadership development framework and their own ladder of engagement, which has led to more robust base-building strategies. Spadework also piloted its month-long new horizons residency program at the pendle hill retreat center in wallingford, pa with two veteran organizers. Their evaluatons and reflections will help launch a more formal program in 2025.

Sugar freedom project - the sugar freedom project continued its deep base- building work in oakland's most neglected neighborhoods in east oakland. It expanded its membership base by engaging close to 600 residents in a series of focus groups to identify investment priorities in their neighborhoods. Four leaders went through spadework's 5-month long cohort to sharpen their skills as grassroots organizers.
