Icert renewed its commitment to interoperability - icert's board of directors approved the 2024 policy platform, renewing the association's commitment to advance state and federal policies that promote widespread adoption of advanced technologies and standards that improve emergency response and increase the public's safety. Critical to achieving this goal is icert's strong support for open standards and interoperability of all components of the emergency response ecosystem.

Icert members participated and spoke at nena's 911 goes to washington event, as well as at the iwce conference - many of icert's members and the icert team attended and participated in nena's annual washington, dc fly-in, known as 911 goes to washington (gtw), as well as the annual iwce conference and expo in las vegas. At gtw, the icert team and members participated on two panels, in addition to participating in nearly a dozen meetings with members of congress. In addition to contributing to the important policy discussions, we want to give special recognition to icert's member companies who participated and sponsored the associated events of both the ng911 institute and women in 911 (win). At the iwce conference & expo in las vegas, many icert member companies participated as speakers, exhibitors, and attendees. In addition to icert, a dozen icert member companies had exhibit booths in the expo hall.

The industry council for emergency response technologies ("icert") filed comments with the fcc in response to its notice of proposed rulemaking on location-based routing (lbr). The use of a caller's location to route a 911 call is important to promoting improved emergency response, and icert supports the fcc's efforts to promote lbr and a broader implementation of ng911 across the country. Specifically, we broadly support the implementation and use of lbr technology and a more rapid implementation of ng911 capabilities that often occur concurrently. Further, implementation of such technologies will dramatically improve emergency response efforts, and we appreciate the efforts of the fcc to facilitate broader implementation of both.
