Mission

As houston's premier literary arts nonprofit organization, inprint annually serves more than 15,000 readers and writers of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Inprint programs include: literary performance programs, writing workshops and support for the next generation of literary writers.

Programs

2 programs

Inprint's literary engagement programs include writing workshops, poetry buskers, book club, and other community programs. Writing workshops provide the general public, senior citizens, adults with dementia, k-12 educators, healthcare employees, veterans, the incarcerated, and others with instruction in creative writing that enables them, depending on the group served, to strengthen their writing skills, prepare work for publication, create memoirs to be shared with families and friends, engage in personally rewarding activities, and improve cognitive abilities. Inprint poetry buskers bring the joy of poetry to festivals and public events throughout the greater houston area. The inprint book club offers lively discussions on works by authors featured in ibrs. Total audience of 4,759 was directly served by these programs in 2023-2024.

Expenses: $275K

Since 1983, inprint has supported the next generation of literary writers by providing fellowships, juried prizes, and paid writing-related employment to more than 600 graduate students and local authors, totaling more than $4.5 million in direct support of writers. Inprint's support of graduate students at the university of houston (uh) creative writing program and undergraduates at rice university, along with outreach programs at other local universities and schools, enhances houston and helps to ensure - locally and nationally - the future of the written word. A total of 168 emerging authors received direct support via these programs in 2023-2024.
